After my recent switch from Canon to Fujifilm I also decided to go back to prime lenses again. So instead of the 24-70 zoom lense I wanted to cover the trinity of 35/50/85mm again.
So when I purchased the X-Pro 2 the Fuji XF 35 2.0 came with it. Bear in mind that the Fuji X-trans sensor is a crop sensor so the 35 converts to roughly 50mm. A lens I hadn’t shot with in quite a while.
For everyday use and my future tries in street photography the 23 2.0 caught my eye. Fast focus, weather resistant and fairly compact, what is not to like. But for my beauty and portraiture work i needed something longer and so something in the range of 85mm full frame equivalent was needed. Immediately my eye was caught by the Fuji 56 1.2. I mean fucking 1.2, I just had to do it. There is also a 50 2.0 now by fuji which is way more compact and hast faster focusing, but now, for my works it just had to be the 56. It was a decision I didn’t regret till now. Focussing at 1.2 can be quiet difficult sometimes, but the powerful autofocus of the X-Pro 2 manages this task quite well and so you get one of the creamiest bokehs I have ever seen.
I am totally in love with this lense and can’t wait to shoot more projects with it.
By the way, all images in this article are shot with the 56 1.2!
